One of my favorite things about the Ninja Creami machine is its versatility.
It’s so simple to create a wide variety of desserts, with various ingredients, so you can customize your frozen treats according to your needs and preferences.
It’s especially easy to make healthy Ninja Creami recipes and low calorie Ninja Creami recipes, which is one reason it’s become so popular!
In my quest to create more low fat Ninja Creami desserts, I’ve been experimenting with using cottage cheese in ice creams.
This is a super easy way to add protein to the ice cream and give it a rich, creamy texture, but without all of the fat of heavy cream.
I especially love using fruit to give it flavor!
That’s how this Ninja Creami blueberry cottage cheese ice cream was born. It’s an easy and tasty dessert you can feel good about!
Blueberry Cottage Cheese Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami
Because I wanted to be able to make this recipe year-round, I used frozen blueberries, since they’re easy to find all the time.
For cottage cheese, I like to use the Good Culture brand, but you can use whatever brand you prefer.
I also used low-fat cottage cheese. You could certainly use whole milk cottage cheese, but I wouldn’t recommend using fat free cottage cheese.
The blueberries give it some natural sweetness, and sugar or an alternative sweetener help to enhance that.
It’s a super simple way to enjoy a fruity ice cream but without the guilt!

How to Make Ninja Creami Blueberry Cottage Cheese Ice Cream
It’s really easy to make this blueberry treat.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- Frozen blueberries
- Sugar or monk fruit sweetener
- Low fat cottage cheese
- 2% milk
How to Make it:
(Full printable recipe card is available below)
Thaw the berries. To start, you’ll take the frozen blueberries and stir them together with either sugar or monk fruit sweetener in a small bowl.
Either allow them to thaw at room temperature or pop the bowl into the microwave.
You’ll want to microwave them in 30 second increments, until the blueberries are thawed and have released their juices.
Blend the base. In a large liquid measuring cup or small mixing bowl, combine the blueberries and their juices with the cottage cheese and milk.
Use an immersion blender to puree the mixture until smooth. Pour into a Ninja Creami pint container.
Adjust sweetness to taste. Give the mixture a taste.
If it doesn’t seem sweet enough, stir in a couple tablespoons of sugar or monk fruit sweetener (this will depend on your preference as well as how sweet your blueberries are).
Freeze. Place the lid on the pint container and transfer to a level surface in your freezer for at least 24 hours.
Spin. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid.
Place the pint container into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami machine, securing the outer bowl lid.
Lock the outer bowl into place in the machine, then press the Lite Ice Cream button. Allow the cycle to complete.
Re-spin if needed. Remove the container from the machine and check the ice cream’s consistency.
If it appears crumbly or powdery, insert it back into the machine and press the Re-spin button.
If it’s still crumbly after that, add a tablespoon of milk or water to the ice cream, then Re-spin again.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes and Adaptations:
- I used 2% cottage cheese (I like the Good Culture brand), but you could also use full fat if you prefer. I don’t recommend using fat free.
- To decrease added sugars, you can use monk fruit sweetener instead of granulated sugar.
- I haven’t personally made this with fresh blueberries, but I would imagine it would work fine.
