Rice Krispie Treats with White Chocolate
Adding a layer of melted white chocolate on top takes these Easter treats to the next level. It adds a smooth, creamy sweetness that pairs perfectly with the crispy, chewy base.
Don’t let melting white chocolate intimidate you—it’s super easy! The microwave method is quick and foolproof, but if you prefer a gentler approach, a double boiler works great too.
You can also use either of these methods for melting chocolate in my Easter Chocolate Bark recipe.
Microwave Method
Place white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl.
Heat in a 30-second interval, followed by 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth.
Double Boiler Method
Fill a saucepan with a few inches of water and bring to a simmer.
Place a heatproof bowl on top, making sure it doesn’t touch the water. Add white chocolate and stir until melted and smooth.

How to Make Easter Rice Krispie treats
It’s really easy to whip up this festive holiday dessert!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- Unsalted Butter
- Mini Marshmallows
- Vanilla Extract
- Rice Krispies Cereal
- White Chocolate Melting Wafers
- Easter Sprinkles

How to Make It:
Prepare the marshmallow mixture. First, you’ll melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat, then add the mini marshmallows.

Stir the marshmallows almost constantly, until they’re melted and smooth.
Remove pot from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Add the cereal. Next, you’ll add Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture, stirring well to coat.
Gently press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Be careful not to press too hard (packing them tightly makes the Rice Krispie treats hard, rather than chewy).
I moisten my hands with water to keep the mixture from sticking to my hands while pressing the mixture into the pan.

Add the chocolate and sprinkles. Last, you’ll add white chocolate melting wafers to a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir.
Continue microwaving, in 15-second increments, stirring after each, until the white chocolate is melted and smooth.

Pour the white chocolate evenly over the top of the Rice Krispie mixture.
Sprinkle with the Easter sprinkles, then allow the white chocolate to cool and harden completely.

Serve. Once the chocolate has hardened, you can cut the Rice Krispie treats into bars and serve!

Notes and Adaptations:
- You can use the wrapper from your stick of butter to grease the pan, if you’d like.
- I like to use Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers, but you can use a different brand if you prefer.
- If you need to speed up the process, you can transfer the pan to the refrigerator to help the white chocolate cool faster.
- These make delicious treats for a party, bake sale, or as handmade gifts for sharing.
