This is a refreshing treat, similar to a soft serve pineapple sorbet, that Disney enthusiasts often wait in long lines to enjoy.
It’s a great way to cool off on a hot summer day at the Disney theme parks!
But even if a Disney vacation is not in your near future, you can still enjoy the tasty treat of a homemade Dole Whip–and it’s easier than ever, thanks to your Ninja Creami ice cream maker!

Homemade Dole Whip in the Ninja Creami
All you need is a few simple ingredients to make your own pineapple sweet treat at home!
While you can certainly make Ninja Creami pineapple sorbet with just some canned pineapple, I’ve found the secret to the “real thing” is to use the pineapple Dole Whip soft serve mix.
Yes, it seems a little pricey at first, but when you consider how many batches you can make with one bag, it’s actually a pretty great deal.
This powdered mix is reportedly what the Disney parks use, so the taste of this copycat recipe is spot-on. You can buy the mix here on Amazon.
I’ve experimented with a couple of different methods and ratios using the Disney Dole Whip mix, and I’m sharing my most simple recipe, plus a few tweaks you can make if you’d like.

How to Make Ninja Creami Dole Whip Recipe
It’s easier than you think to “whip” up a batch of your own Dole Whip at home!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- Dole Pineapple Soft Serve Mix
- Water (or Pineapple Juice)
How to Make it:
Dissolve the mix. You’ll begin by whisking together some Dole Whip mix and water, stirring until the mix has dissolved.
If desired, you can use pineapple juice instead of water, which results in a sweeter final product.
Freeze. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint, being careful not to exceed the maximum fill line, then close the lid. Place on a level surface in your freezer for at least 24 hours.
Process. Remove the pint from the freezer and take off the lid. Place it in the outer bowl apparatus and lock the outer bowl lid into place. Twist the outer bowl into the Ninja Creami machine.
Press the Sorbet button. The sorbet function cycle will take about 2 minutes to complete. Once finished, remove the outer bowl and check the consistency of the Dole Whip.
If it’s crumbly, you can use the Re-spin cycle to make it creamier.
Serve. At this point, you can scoop it out and serve, or transfer it to a piping bag fitted with a star tip to give it the iconic Dole Whip swirl.

Notes and Adaptations:
- Some people like adding coconut milk instead of water, which may give a slightly creamier texture.
- Using pineapple juice instead of water (or a mix of half juice, half water) is a tasty option–I find it adds a bit of sweetness.
- You can also add some crushed pineapple to the mixture if you’d like. In that case, start by mixing the powder with 3/4 cup of pineapple juice (from a drained can of crushed pineapple). Pour the mixture into the Ninja Creami pint, and add as much crushed pineapple as you can to the mixture without exceeding the maximum fill line. Stir and freeze, then proceed with instructions as written. This will also give you a slightly sweeter Dole Whip.
- Add a scoop to a glass of chilled pineapple juice and you’ve got yourself a Dole Whip float!
- If the texture seems a little grainy, you can let the pint sit out at room temperature for 5-10 minutes, then re-spin again.

- 1/2 cup Dole Pineapple Soft Serve Mix
- 1 1/2 cups water (or pineapple juice)
Instructions
- In a large liquid measuring cup, combine the water (or pineapple juice) and soft serve mix. Whisk together until mix dissolves.
- Pour mixture into a Ninja Creami pint, being careful to not exceed the maximum fill line. Secure the pint lid into place.
- Transfer pint to a level surface in the freezer. Freeze for at least 24 hours.
- Remove pint from freezer and take off lid. Place pint into outer bowl apparatus and lock the outer bowl lid into place. Secure apparatus in Ninja Creami machine.
- Select the Sorbet function. Allow the cycle to complete (this should take about 2 minutes).
- Once complete, remove the outer bowl to check the consistency of the Dole Whip. If it's crumbly, you can re-insert it into the machine and complete a Re-spin cycle. If it still isn't creamy after that, add a tablespoon or two of water or pineapple juice and Re-spin again.
- Scoop into dishes (or into a piping bag fitted with a star attachment if you want the classic Dole Whip swirl).
