Homemade Salted Caramel Chocolate Pecan Pie
This delectable pie is one you won’t soon forget. It includes all the best flavor combinations, from chocolate and caramel, to salty and sweet.
Using a store bought pie crust is a great shortcut, too–but if you prefer to make your own from scratch, you certainly can.
I’ve seen various no bake turtle pie recipes, which are more like cream pies. But I thought it would be extra delicious to try a baked version, more like a turtle pecan pie.
The natural flavor of the caramelized sugar paired with chocolate just can’t be beat.
This is delicious served with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
How to Make Turtle Pie with Pecans
It’s really easy to make this delicious pie!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- Unbaked store-bought pie crust in pan
- Granulated sugar
- Brown sugar
- Light corn syrup, such as Karo
- Unsalted butter
- Eggs
- Dulce de leche
- Vanilla extract
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Caramel baking chips
- Chocolate covered pretzels
- Chopped pecans
- Optional: melted chocolate chips, caramel sauce, and sea salt for garnish
How to Make It:
Prepare the filling. First you’ll need to combine some sugar, corn syrup, and melted butter. Add in the eggs, dulce de leche, and vanilla extract, mixing to combine well.
Add goodies. Now it’s time to add all the good stuff to the mixing bowl! You’ll add chocolate chips, chocolate covered pretzels, caramel chips, and pecans.
Bake. Last, you’ll add your filling to the prepared pie crust. Bake pie for about 45 minutes and let cool completely.
If desired, drizzle some melted chocolate sauce and caramel sauce on top of the pie, followed by a sprinkle of sea salt!
Notes and Adaptations:
- This pie is begging to be served with a dollop of Cool Whip or some homemade whipped cream! To make your own, whip heavy cream together with a little powdered sugar, using an electric mixer, until stiff peaks form.
- Feel free to use a food processor to chop your pecans if you can’t find them already chopped in the store.
- You may want to place your pie pan on a baking sheet to make it easier to transfer in and out of the oven.
- I have not tried this in a chocolate cookie crust, but I think it would be delicious! You could buy an Oreo crust and give it a try, or make your own.
